Supporting statement
This is the most important section of your application as this where we will look for evidence of the skills we need.
You'll be asked to outline your skills, knowledge and experience in relation to the points in the person specification of the job profile, which is published with each advert.
Make sure that you provide clear evidence that you meet the criteria. Don't just tell us you can do it, tell us:
- What the situation was
- What actions you took
Not all jobs require specific qualifications or experience - it is the personal qualities, skills and attitude that are important in many cases e.g. team working, initiative and flexibility.
We value transferrable skills and encourage applicants who do not have direct experience to provide examples from other areas that meet the requirements.
What happens next
When you have submitted your application you will receive an automated email confirmation.
Applications will be shortlisted by the recruiting managers (with personal details anonymised)., shortlisting is based on your responses to the criteria on the person specification and how well you meet the requirements of the job.
If your application has been successful the recruiting manager will contact you to invite you attend an interview. You may be asked to log in to the portal to choose your preferred interview time. All candidates will be emailed with the outcome of their application once shortlisting has taken place.
Interview
If you are invited to attend an interview, it is important that you prepare. You will be asked questions relating to how our skills, knowledge and experience relate to the role and how you can demonstrate the essential criteria and PACE competencies, you can view the Councils PACE values here.
