Communications Officer

Are you a skilled and confident communicator who can plan, develop and deliver relevant and engaging content to the right audience at the right time using a wide variety of channels?

This is a rare opportunity to find two new permanent team members to join our amazing team so we can make it even better. These are for 1 x full-time and 1 x part-time (22 hours) comms officers.

You will need to be highly-motivated, collaborative and positive communications professionals with proven experience in the industry.

As essential team members you will help to positively promote the city council’s services, the people it serves, and be confident in understanding how what you do helps to deliver the council’s key priorities as set in ‘We are Norwich’ – our community-led plan.

You will need to be skilled in shaping and delivering internal and external communications strategies/plans. Part of your day-to-day role will also involve providing official responses to media enquiries.

As one of the council’s key corporate services, you will be comfortable and confident when it comes to providing expert advice to elected members and officers at all levels, along with other key stakeholders.

Successful candidates, who will report directly to the communications manager, need to feel confident to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members and other colleagues.

As a skilled negotiator, you will work with individuals and teams throughout the council to build excellent working relationships. You will have a professional and flexible attitude and be able to regularly prioritise your workload across both planned and reactive work.

  • Paid holiday entitlement starts at 26 days per annum and increases with length of service to a maximum of 33 days per annum. This is pro rata for part-time employees
